Webster top rod in Valley match

Fishing has really taken off all over the area and we are pleased to report all fisheries are really producing.
Valley School held a match and pleasure day on Holmedale Lake at Sherwood Forest Farm Park where the fishery owner Mick Langton reduced the pegging fee to £2 per head to accommodate limited funds.
A group of 42 enthusiastic youngsters tried their hand from experienced anglers to complete novices, with the vast majority catching fish.
Top rod on the day was Jordan Webster who fished groundbait feeder on peg 21 for a fine weight of 17lb 2oz.
Tom Jeffery fished floating bread in the margins for 16lb 4½oz for second on peg 30 with Alex Wood taking third place using method feeder to 14lb1½oz on the scales from peg 33.

Roger Green informs us that sport has improved on Woodsetts quarry pond with roach falling to red maggot on either the pole or waggler.
Eight tench of 5lb-plus were caught from the top end on polaris fished tutti frutti boilie and on Sunday a tench of 7lb 8oz fell to fake corn.

Dave West reports that a recent coastal match at Yarmouth saw three bass over 15lb weighed in by separate anglers with plenty of smaller bass also being caught. Total match weights are reaching up to 30lb per rod.
The Holderness coast is still producing bass although we have yet to hear if the summer run of skate has started.

Mick Pogson has asked us to remind you that the Bassetlaw OAP Festival match is to be fished on 12th July at Sandhill Lake.
Draw is 9am. Tickets obtained on the day at £5. All money returned in prizes.
