Wins for Boulton and Davenport

It is no coincidence that the youngsters representing Worksop and District Anglers’ Association have tasted such success at national and international level.
This is down to individuals who donate their time and efforts and businesses for their sponsorship.
On this note we would like to thank British Waterways and Ken Ward Sports for their backing of last Friday evening’s junior matches on the Chesterfield Canal.
Up to 24 anglers took part and all showed great talent and determination to catch a few fish and have a good time.
The winner of the under 16s was Tommy Davenport who pole fished maggot to weigh 4.75kg while Jason Goulding took second place with 3.55kg and Gavin Leversidge was third with 2.75kg.
In the under 13s category Ryan Boulton put 2kg on the scales for first, J. Midgely weighed 0.81kg for second with O. Hipkiss netting 0.8kg for third.
A big thank you must also go to John Cook of British Waterways for presenting the prizes, the Grafton AA for the donation of the waters and especially Mick Simpson for organising a successful evening.

The 2005 Junior Fish-in is to be held on Saturday 13th August at Sherwood Forest Farm Park.
The event is open to any junior aged 16 and under (but must be accompanied by parent or guardian). There will also be a free barbecue for the juniors along with a goodie bag of prizes.
Sponsoring the event will be Crafty Catcher, Pro logic, Armalead, Nashbait, Korda, Carp-r-us, Bait and feed company, Alien baits, Custom baits and Sticky baits.

Derek at Harlesthorpe Dam at Clowne informs us that the top method on the small pond at the moment is floating bread close to the margins.
On the big lake pole fished pellet or corn is taking mixed nets with carp of 18lb and tench to 4lb falling to Tim Marsden.

National fishing week is to run again this year from Saturday 20th to Monday 29th August.
To commemorate this Barlow Fisheries near Chesterfield are running free taster sessions in course and fly fishing on the 20th from 10am until 4pm.
There will be NFA, PPA and professional fly fishing coaches present as well as trade stands, displays and competitions.
