Guardian match in aid of Tsunami appeal

As most of you will be aware the Guardian have launched an appeal for the Tsunami.
We have been offered a golden opportunity on behalf of all Worksop Anglers to support this worthy cause.
Bill from Lodge Farm Fisheries has offered us the two new lakes, Signal and Field Lakes, to run a charity fishing match.
This will take place on Saturday the 29th January. These lakes are only just opened to the public as we go to press .
Bill informs us that the two new ponds, which have just opened, are fishing very well. Pleasure anglers are bagging up with weights up to 60lb plus.
The draw is at 8.30am and fishing is from 10am to 3pm. There is a seven-peg limit and the cost is £12 all-in which includes £2 pegging fee, £4 charity donation and £6 pools, with many raffle prizes.
We have already received a considerable amount of registrations from junior anglers and, if numbers allow, we are hoping to run a separate section for them.
The entry fee for the juniors is £6 all-in, for prizes only, no pools. Due to the expected demand, pre-registration is recommended to avoid disappointment.
The Guardian are supplying a trophy for the overall winner and are also expanded coverage of the event, including a staff photographer.
So, for a change, you will not have to put up with our fuzzy photos!
We are receiving tremendous support from local clubs and tackle retailers but would welcome any further donations to this appeal either, raffle prizes or items of tackle for prizes for the junior match.

Through the Grapevine

WDAA’s General Delegates meeting is due to take place on Thursday 3rd February at the Innings, Prospect Estate, starting at 7.30pm.
Member clubs are reminded that annual affiliation fees of £10 must be paid by this date.

Worksop Disabled Angling Club have a meeting at the Manton Miners’ Welfare on Thursday 20th January at 7pm.

Last week we made a comment, which was intended as banter, about an employee who works at Angling Supplies on Retford Road, Worksop.
This was not meant to offend the person in question and we sincerely apologise for any upset and inconvenience that may have been caused.

We have received a report from Roger Green of a capture of four pike on deadbait on Sandhill Lakes.

The Trout Lake is fishing well at Lakeside Fisheries. Colin Parker took 17 fish, the best a 10lb 3oz rainbow, on white waggler and sinking line.
Paul Cockley took 15 fish with the largest a personal best, a rainbow of 6lb 8oz, on white fritz.
Strip Ponds is fishing well with a recent knock up having three weights above 25lb.

Sherwood Forest Farm Park quick form guide. The Cavendish always produces fish in any conditions waggler, feeder or pole, maggot, caster and pinkie and even pellet taking fish best pegs have been in the middle of the lake and the low numbers.
On the Maunside it’s been a fish most puts out on the pole and maggot when the wind allows you to fish this lake, especially carp orfe and chub fishing at the bottom of the far shelf. Pellet and corn is worth a try, as is fishing right across to the reeds.
The Sherwood lake has been on top form on milder days - all pegs on the sheltered field side have produced.
Nets up to 25lb of skimmers on a 4mm pellet, but pole squat and pinkie over groundbait will get you bites even in the hardest conditions.
On the Holmedale, peg 31 continues to dominate the carp fishing, but pegs one to 15 are good for roach and rudd on waggler.
